RAIMOND WOUDA

Scenes, sceneries and scenarios
Between 2008 and 2014 Wouda visited various productions of Dutch feature films in the Netherlands and Belgium. He photographed with a large format camera and recorded the film sets perched as fictional islands in the actual landscape. The Dutch film represents a small place in the major international film world. Yet, they are able to achieve optimal imagination with few resources and as a result deliver a professional product. Wouda's project focuses on the operation of imagination through the medium of film and how this is accomplished. The viewer is given the opportunity to step outside the framework of the film and its created, sometimes spectacular reality, because Wouda focuses on both film set and surrounded landscape. This works sobering because it is so little enchanting and small scaled. But when you think of the professional result of the Dutch cinema the images provoke wonder and astonishment.
